When you think of the Kia brand, the competitors you typically picture for the models offered from this brand include Hyundai, Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. You wouldn’t expect a brand that was once considered the bargain brand of the market to build a vehicle that would reach up to the performance or luxury classes of cars to find the competition for the drive. But that’s what the Kia Stinger has done and what it’s built for. This car is the newest model in the lineup, and it was put against the Porsche Panamera and the BMW 640i to see how it would perform in four tests on the track.
Acceleration
The first test offered to see how this impressive new sports sedan would perform the acceleration test to see how this car can run from zero to sixty mph. In this test, the Kia Stinger was able to outperform the other two models. During this test, the Stinger GT was able to reach the mark in 4.60 seconds while the Panamera did the run in 5.14 seconds, with the BMW 640i making the run in 5.18 seconds.
Cornering
The second test was a measure of the G-Force put on the cars during a cornering run around one area of the track. In this test, the Porsche was able to withstand 1.049 g-forces, the Stinger GT held on for a 1.024 g-force run, and the BMW 640i came in last with a performance of 0.966 g-forces. This shows the Stinger coming in just behind the Porsche and well ahead of the BMW for the ride during this test.
Slalom
A back and forth drive around cones are set up to test the cars can transition from one move to another and speeds they can handle this run. In this test, the Porsche Panamera performed the best reaching 63 mph during the race on the course while the Stinger GT made it to 62.8 mph, and the BMW 640i reached a speed of 59.6 mph for the drive. This shows the Stinger was extremely close to keeping pace with the Porsche during this run.
Lap Performance
Finally, all three cars were put to the test in a closed course lap. It showed the time each car could make its way around the track. In this test, the Stinger GT was able to achieve the win with a time of 45.70 seconds. The Porsche Panamera made it around the course in 45.86 seconds, while the BMW 640i finished the run in 47.78 seconds. Not only does the Kia Stinger GT offer you a great deal of performance for the drive you want to enjoy on the track and the road. It is one that costs less than half what the other two models it was put up against this test. You wouldn’t expect these to be the right models to compete with the Stinger. As you can see from the results and the video, the Stinger can hold its own on the track.
