The Concept EV9 was first released in 2021 with the intention of reaching Kia dealers in 2023 for the 2024 model year. Since then, little bits of information have been released over the months and years. Today, we’re putting all that information together to give us one solid idea of what we should expect when the Kia EV9 SUV officially comes out sometime this year.
Kia’s Concept Characteristics and Camo Photos
According to concept and camo photos of the EV9, it will be a large all-electric SUV with a boxy, smooth exterior and a futuristic interior.
The concept model had sharper lines and unique wheels, but the newer production model exterior shots kept true to the sleek, smooth design we’re starting to love from Kia SUVs.
As for the interior, the concept shots gave us a real look at what the “future” is to Kia—interesting seat designs, a steering wheel that looks more at home on a spaceship, and a 27-inch wide display that stretches from the driver’s side to the middle of the front passenger’s
seat.
There’s even extra floor space inside the vehicle because the seats are connected to the center console rather than the floor itself!
But what about the important stuff: the price, technology, and ability of the EV9 when it reaches Kia dealer locations around the world?
Pricing, Range, and Features
According to Kia’s website, the EV9 can have three rows of seating, a built-in solar panel on the hood, a pop-up steering wheel, and that stunning 27-inch front display.
Most of the interior will be made of sustainable materials as part of Kia’s move toward environmentally-conscious manufacturing, too.
Considering that Kia has said the EV9 will “set new standards in range,” it should have more than the Kia EV6’s 310-mile maximum – which makes sense with how much more space it has and Kia’s advancements in battery technology.
As for pricing, there’s no official word yet, but comparing it to the EV6 before it and the similarly-sized Tesla Model X, you get a range between $50,000 and $120,000.
That sounds like a lot, but remember that Tesla’s pricing is always much higher than Kia’s, and the lower range is based on the cost of the most expensive EV6 models!
When We Can Expect to See the Production Model
The year is still young, so there’s plenty of time for Kia to roll out the production model of the EV9 or push back the release date due to supply and market issues.
But as of right now, we know that the EV9 is set to be released for the 2024 model year—meaning you’ll see it in Kia dealer showrooms by the end of 2023.
In the meantime, more information about the EV9 could be released any day, so check back here or on Kia’s website for updates often!
