It wasn’t long ago that Ford practically broke the internet with the announcement that the ever-loved Ford Bronco was going back into production. This GOAT (Goes On Any Terrain) SUV was one of the most powerful vehicles on the road during its heyday. With some significant improvement and modern updates, the Bronco is back and better than ever.
Ford is getting ready to take over headlines again with the release of the high-performance, off-road Ford Bronco Raptor. Some rumors started circulating about this upcoming ride in May of 2021, but new details are starting to emerge, and drivers are going crazy with anticipation.
A Huge New Ride
When prototypes of the new Ford Bronco Raptor were seen running around town, it was apparent that this beast was no clown car. This rig simply towers over the rest of the traffic. Part of the reason this SUV stands so tall is that it is rocking 37-inch BF Goodrich tires.
If you’ve ever seen a Jeep Gladiator or Ford Escape in person, just imagine one of those SUVs and then add some size. Normal Bronco SUVs can go larger when you add the available Sasquatch package that adds 11.6-inches of ground clearance, so it wouldn’t be out of the question for the Raptor to exceed 13 inches.
Think of it this way; a Honda Civic is roughly 55.7 inches tall. A Bronco with the Sasquatch add-on is roughly 74-inches high. The Raptor is expected to be at least 76 inches, if not more. That’s a big SUV.
Under The Hood
There aren’t any specific details about what will power this massive SUV, but expectations are high that it will be something worthy of praise. There’s good reason to believe that it will be turbocharged and most likely a V6.
The regular Bronco has an available 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, and the Ford Explorer ST rocks a similar 3.0-liter option. There’s no reason to expect less than 400 horsepower and close to 500 lb-ft of torque.
