Kia has committed to offering eleven new EV models between now and 2026 and the EV6 is the first of these models to arrive.
This new SUV will be offered for 2022 as a compact model that mirrors the new Hyundai Ioniq 5. This new Kia model brings in the Kia global design language which is called “Opposites United” giving us something we weren’t sure was going to happen from many automakers.
What Do We See in the New Kia EV6?
This new electric SUV is offered to give bold, curvier looks than anything else we’ve seen before. The front end has the Kia theme with a grille that has a special shape to it. For this new model, Kia has changed the name of the front from the Tiger Grille to the “Digital Tiger Face” which includes headlights that complete the look that resembles one of the most ferocious jungle cats in the world.
The EV6 also features a low roofline and chunky rear wheel areas to give you an impressive look when you’re ready for a drive. The pillars are blacked out to offer a floating roof and give the entire vehicle a visually lower appearance. When you look at the rear, you’ll see raked rear windows that end at a ducktail spoiler with integrated rear lights. The outer edge of these lights wrap around the bumper to connect the wheel arches.
A Differentiating Feeling from Kia
Similar to the new Ioniq 5, the Kia EV6 uses as much of its overall length for the wheelbase as possible. This allows for more cabin room to give you an area that’s much larger than most of the compact crossover SUVs in the market today. The digital instrument panel is one single panel and the center infotainment screen is large, giving you the views and controls you need right in front of you.
You’ll find traditional controls for the volume and temperature, which makes for a good feeling when you need to adjust these things during your drive. Enjoy the crafted fabric seats that are made from recycled plastics to give you the complete EV feeling of being eco-friendly when you take a drive.
More Details are Forthcoming
We don’t have all the technical details of the new EV6 just yet, but they are on the way. We do expect this SUV to use the same power system as the Ioniq 5 which has a 77.4-kWh battery package and offers horsepower that ranges from 215 to 306. You may even have a choice of either RWD or AWD when you get ready to take a drive in this SUV. The 2022 model year is when we will see the new Kia EV6 arrive.
If you’ve been thinking about owning a small electric SUV to give you the versatility and electric drive that you desire, this might be the right one for you. Get ready to learn more about the EV6 as the release date comes ever closer.
