Honda is bringing back the NSX, but it’s going to be a little different from what you’re used to seeing. This new sports car will be an EV.
There are not many details available yet, but it will be part of the upcoming O Series of EVs. If you have an older NSX, you can count on Honda service to keep it running its best until the new generation arrives.
What Can We Expect with the New NSX?
The o Series of EVs will be arriving at Honda dealerships in the near future. These are based on the o Series Saloon concept car that Honda revealed at the CES in Las Vegas. It had a minimalist design with a driver-focused cockpit and an impressive amount of technology.
The Saloon maximizes passenger space with a smaller battery that takes up less room than the batteries in the current Honda EVs. E-axle drive units will propel the o Series EV. These combine the motors, gearboxes, and inverters into a single unit.
We’ll Have to Wait A Few Years
It’s a good thing the current NSX is still an impressive supercar, because it will be a few years before the ell-electric version makes its way to Honda dealers. According to Honda, they are planning on introducing the new sports model in 2028. And, while it should be a supercar like the NSX, it might not be called the NSX. All these details are still in the works, so we will just have to wait and see.
What About the Current NSX?
The current NSX falls under the Acura brand. The NSX Type S uses a hybrid powertrain made up of a twin-turbo V-6 and three electric motors. These all combine to deliver a blistering 600 horsepower and a zero to 60 mph time of 2.9 seconds. A nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission helps with quick acceleration, and since one of the electric motors sends power to the rear wheels while the other two power the front wheels, you’ll always have all-wheel drive.
The NSX is a sports car, but it is also something you can use for your everyday drive. Since this Honda can spend more time on the road than your average sports car, it may need Honda service more often to make sure it stays running its best.
A Comfortable Everyday Supercar
As an everyday driver, the NSX provides a comfortable place to ride. The cabin has a premium feel, with a combination of leather and simulated suede seats and carbon fiber trim on the steering wheel. Bright red leather upholstery ensures that you don’t forget that you’re driving a supercar.
A 7-inch touchscreen sits in the dashboard, housing a navigation system and an ELS Studio nine-speaker stereo system. Don’t expect to carry much gear with you on your drive, though. The trunk only has 4.4 cubic feet of storage space.
