Subaru Solterra –An Electric SUV that Could Give You An Amazing Drive

Subaru Solterra –An Electric SUV that Could Give You An Amazing Drive

We’ve seen proof that Subaru and Toyota enjoy working together. Another piece of evidence is the new Subaru Solterra and Toyota BZ4X.

These two compact SUV models will share a platform and go on sale next year to give us electric driving at the SUV level. So far, we’ve only been teased with the Solterra and what it will bring when it arrives.

A New Era of SUV Driving

The first vehicle that will ride on the new e-Subaru Global Platform will be the Subaru Solterra. This new platform is only slightly different from what Toyota has created with the e-TNGA platform that underpins electric models from the Toyota brand. Once again, these two brands are collaborating to offer similar design, performance, and size in the vehicle offered. If this reminds you of the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ, you would be on the right track.

What Do these Two Brand Bring to the Project

Subaru is well-knownfor the standard AWD that’s offered across the entire lineup, with the only exception being the BRZ. Toyota has become the expert when it comes to hybrid and electrification of vehicles that we enjoy in the market. Together, the Solterra and BZ4X are going to both offer the electric powertrain and standard AWD systems we want to enjoy on the road.

A Name With Latin Roots

Where did Subaru come up with the Solterra name? If you look up the Latin meanings of the two parts of this name you quickly learn that Sol means sun and Terra means Earth, which gives you this name. This new SUV may be one that you enjoy driving out into the wilderness on a sunny day to enjoy the unexplored areas of the world.

We Don’t Know Much Yet

The only look we’ve received for the new Subaru Solterra has been a three-quarter look at it. Yes, this is another model and brand trying to tease us. We know there are wide headlights sitting below the hood line and a large grille opening, even though a grille isn’t necessary for an EV model. The window line is identical to the Toyota BZ4X which was shown as a concept model last month.

Added Items that Make it a Subaru

Subaru has a reputation for offering vehicles that can go anywhere we want to drive. With that in mind, we do know the Solterra will have roof racks to emphasize this reputation. If the size of the Solterra is the same as the BZ4X, this SUV should fit between the Forester and Outback in relation to size.

We will learn much more about the new Subaru Solterra later this year when it will be presented to use with all the information. This SUV is expected to be part of the markets in the US, Canada, Europe, China, and Japan. Get ready to learn more and see if an EV SUV that can go everywhere will be the right vehicle for you.
