Honda is one of the world’s best carmakers. Similar to Toyota in some ways, Honda makes reliable, safe, affordable, and fulfilling cars. There is a reason every Honda dealer in the United States is constantly selling cars, and it’s because Hondas are so popular. Hondas are popular because the brand has a long history of making cars that do it right.
The Honda Civic, for example, is one of their best-selling models. Throughout the years, the Civic has been reimagined and consumers can’t seem to get enough of this small, yet fierce car. Honda has a whole legion of amazing cars besides the Civic. The CR-V is considered the best SUV, and the Honda Passport is great for large families.
Let’s get into all of the trims. What is a trim, though?
What are Trim Levels?
Put simply, trim levels are what distinguish different variations of the same vehicle. For example, the Honda Civic has many different levels of trim for consumers to choose from. The most basic trims levels are more affordable and offer the most basic of features. The higher the trim level, the higher the price, and the better the car.
Some trims affect things such as safety features and infotainment systems, while other trims affect the engine, making the car more powerful and impressive. Let’s start with the basic ones.
Honda LX
The Honda LX trim is one of the basic ones and one that consumers will usually upgrade to. This trim can be applied to the Honda Fit, Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe, Civic Hatchback, Insight, Accord, HR-V, CR-V, Pilot, and Odyssey. So a lot of them.
This trim level offers features such as a five-inch color LCD screen, automatic headlights, power windows with automatic up/down driver’s window, body-colored rear spoiler, and the Multi-Angle Rearview Camera. As you can see, this trim has some cool features, but they are all basic. A Honda dealer may offer consumers this trim if they want something more than the basic trim level.
Honda Sport
The Sport trim for Honda models is probably the most popular trim level there is. While it is the base model for the Passport and Ridgeline models, it can also be applied to the Fit, Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe, Civic Hatchback, Accord, and HR-V models.
What does the Sport trim offer? This trim offers basic upgrades and a sportier design to the cars it can be applied to. Features such as LED lighting and chrome exhaust finishers are common. You can find steering wheel paddle shifters on the Civic and Accord models. This gives the car a little bit of a sportier feel. Many consumers choose the Sport trim because it makes the car feel a little bit cooler than the basic version.
Honda EX
On the flip side, The EX trim offers comfort over coolness. This trim is great for families who need a little added luxury to make the drives more comforting. This trim can be applied to the Odyssey, Insight, CR-V, HR-V, Pilot, Accord Hybrid, Accord, Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe, Civic Hatchback, and Fit.
This trim offers a push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated front seats. These might be small improvements, but they make the driving experience a lot easier. For added safety, this trim also offers Honda’s Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Monitor. Got to keep those kids safe.
The Honda EX-L trim is just the EX but with more features. The EX-L offers LED low-beam headlights, heated side mirrors, leather seats, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. This trim offers more, but you get the gist.
There are also the Navi/RES trims, which are in addition to the EX-L. It adds navigation, Honda’s advanced Rear Entertainment System (RES), and the CabinWatch rear seat monitor. This trim upgrade is great for kids.
Honda Touring
Next is the Honda Touring trim, which is basically everything anyone could ask for. It is a great trim for the Honda Accord because it can include the Accord’s optional turbocharged engine. This trim is available for the Odyssey, Insight, CR-V, HR-V, Passport, Pilot, Accord Hybrid, Accord (2.0T only), Civic Sedan, Civic Sedan, and Civic Coupe.
The Touring is the ultimate driving experience. It comes with chrome exterior door handles, full LED headlights, memory-linked side mirrors, courtesy approach lights, navigation, a wireless phone charger, a premium 10-speaker audio system, and mobile hotspot capability.
Honda Touring Sport
This trim is only available for the Honda Civic Hatchback, which is a big seller at any Honda dealer. The Touring Sport offers much of what the Touring offers but with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a leather interior. It is almost the best Honda Civic you can get. Almost.
Honda Elite
The Honda Elite trim is for Honda’s largest vehicles What are they? The Pilot, Passport, and Odyssey are Honda’s largest cars and the only ones that can get this trim.
The Elite trim is the best trim you can get for these cars. It also happens to be the most expensive one. This trim offers everything the previous trims offered but with standard all-wheel drive, power-folding and heated side mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated and cooled front seats, wireless phone charging, and an upgraded premium audio system.
The RTL-E trim is similar to the Elite trim, but it is used only for the Ridgeline models.
Honda Type-R
The Honda Civic Type-R is Honda’s most impressive Honda Civic ever. EVER.
The Type-R is a trim not meant for the regular consumer. It essentially turns the Honda Civic Hatchback into an actual race car. This trim has already broken records at tracks such as the famous Nürburgring raceway.
