There will be a new vehicle offered by Ford in China that may eventually make its way to the North American market for us to enjoy the drive.
If there was any indication that the automotive world wasn’t global, it would be dispelled by the many vehicles that are the product of collaboration and brands that aren’t domestic even if they are built domestically. The Chinese market is one of the largest markets in the world when it comes to the automotive industry and it’s where we see more of the American brands making a home than several others.
The New Ford Model
Ford is creating a new crossover SUV that will be based on the Ford Chinese joint venture partner JMC called the Yusheng S330. This new Ford model will be called the Territory and it will be powered by a powertrain that we can expect to be right for the drive on the roads in the US if it ever comes to the market. While we don’t have all the details of the new vehicle, it will be a model that could be a lot of fun and give the Chinese market a vehicle that makes sense on the road.
The New Power in this Ford
Powering the new Territory is expected to be provided by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that brings in 163 horsepower for the drive. This may be offered in the gas-only version of the SUV, but there will also be a mild hybrid model that will use a 48-volt hybrid system, and there will also be a plug-in hybrid model that can be great for the drive when you need to charge the batteries and enjoy the range offered. These two hybrid models will likely take advantage of the hybrid tech offered by JMC.
Breaking New Territory
This new SUV is one that’s a true breakthrough for Ford in China. This new model allows the brand to offer the ability to compete in the market successfully. With this model, and the hybrid and plug-in hybrid offerings, Ford can offer the vehicles that will make sure the brand can meet the new regulations that will be put into place in the upcoming years. This new vehicle should provide a benchmark of high quality and cost efficiency from the brand to ensure that new families can afford to drive this vehicle along with those who want to enjoy the benefits offered.
What Will We Want in the US?
While some of the technology offered is already in place in other vehicles, the Territory name and the 48-volt mild-hybrid system will certainly give us more of what we want as we move forward in North America. It makes sense to bring more SUVs to the market for the future, considering Ford is ready to turn its back on cars in order to go all-in with the SUV market. While there’s nothing to tell us this model will make the move to the US, it certainly could be a welcome addition to the Ford lineup for the future.
