It’s no secret that some automakers like to put clues into their press releases to give us an idea of what will be used under the hood of a particular model when it’s time for the ride. We’ve seen clues in the different online brochures from companies that were a bit of a cheeky way to hide the performance numbers that will eventually make their way to the models we want to experience on the drive.
This gives us something to discuss when we prepare to look at what a new vehicle might have for us to enjoy on the road. There have been clues offered that the Ram Rebel TRX Concept could become a reality. This concept truck is one that was offered and shown to us at the 2016 State Fair of Texas as a truck that is powered by the incredible Hellcat engine that makes 707 horsepower for the drive. As we’ve seen at the recent 2018 Detroit Auto Show, the new Ram 1500 that are offered for the 2019 model year wears some of the styling cues that came from this truck, but that doesn’t mean we’ll have this concept turned into a production model.
The Clues that Lead to a Conclusion
Now that we’ve seen the new Ram and the possible styling features make it one we can admire as it wears some of the Ram Rebel TRX Concept items. There are several hints pointing toward a Hellcat engine being under the hood. If a new Rebel shows up came in the online brochure that depicts the 7:07 on the infotainment screen that alludes to the 707 horsepower that comes out of this incredible engine. Is this a coincidence, or is there actual precedence for this conclusion? In 2014, before the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was first offered for the market, there were teaser images that were shown for this car to give us a look at what it would be without giving away the power numbers.
In these images, the SiriusXM channel that was on display for the photos of the interior read the 70s on 7, which was an intentional nod to the fact that this car would have 707 horsepower coming out from under the hood, which was intentionally done by the marketing team to give us this subtle hint at what the Hellcat would offer.
Does this mean we’re going to have a Hellcat-powered Ram Rebel for the future of the market? Nothing has confirmed this just yet, but the fact that FCA wants to shove this massive engine under the hood of everything it possibly can make the Ram 1500 a potential recipient of the Hellcat engine for the future of driving. If this engine makes its way to the Ram Rebel, this will become the most powerful off-road truck on the market and one that will leave the Ford F-150 Raptor in the dust as it tears up the trails and the dessert.
