The Skoda Peaq Signals a New Era for Big Electric Family Haulers
Three rows, more than 400 miles of range, and a cabin that feels closer to a lounge than a school run shuttle. Skoda’s new Peaq is a clear sign that the family SUV is growing up fast, and it raises the bar for what buyers should expect from a roomy electric people mover.
- The Peaq is Skoda‘s new electric flagship and its largest SUV, sitting above the Kodiaq with seating for up to seven.
- Three powertrains span 201 to 295 hp, with a top WLTP range of 402 miles.
- Smart touches include flush door handles, a vertical Android touchscreen, and a dimmable panoramic roof split into nine segments.
A Flagship Built Around Space
Skoda has spent years building a reputation for value and clever packaging, and the Peaq pushes both ideas further. Previewed by the Vision 7S concept, it wears the brand’s Modern Solid look with T-shaped lighting and a gloss black Tech-Deck Face. The sloping roof and sculpted hood give it presence, but the real story is what sits underneath.
At 191.9 inches long with a 116.7-inch wheelbase, the Peaq is actually 7.3 inches shorter than the Hyundai Ioniq 9, yet it still swallows up to 75.9 cubic feet of luggage. A small frunk adds another 1.3 cubic feet up front. Buyers can pick five- or seven-seat layouts, so it works for big families or for people who just want room to stretch out.
This is also the first Skoda with flush-mounted door handles, which help drop the drag coefficient to as low as 0.249. Lower drag means better efficiency, and that matters a lot when you’re trying to squeeze every mile from a battery.
Three Powertrains, Plenty of Range
The Peaq rides on the MEB+ platform and comes in three flavors. The entry-level 60 pairs a 63 kWh battery with a rear motor making 201 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It hits 62 mph in 8.4 seconds and returns up to 285 miles on the WLTP cycle. A 160 kW charger takes it from 10 to 80 percent in about 27 minutes.
Step up to the Peaq 90 and you get a 91 kWh pack, 282 hp, and 402 lb-ft. That trims the 0-62 mph sprint to 7.1 seconds and stretches range to a headline 402 miles. Charging climbs to 199 kW, refilling that bigger battery in roughly 28 minutes.
At the top sits the 90x, which adds a second motor for all-wheel drive and 295 hp. It’s the quickest of the bunch at 6.7 seconds to 62 mph, though range dips slightly to 381 miles. All versions offer one-pedal driving, bidirectional charging, and a towing limit of 4,409 lbs.
A Cabin That Wants You to Relax
Inside, Skoda leans into calm and comfort. There’s a digital cluster plus a 13.6-inch touchscreen mounted vertically and running Android, both firsts for the brand. A floating center console and tiered dashboard keep things tidy, and while most physical buttons are gone, the most-used controls still get real switches.
Options read like a wish list. A 16-speaker Sonos audio system, a dual 25W wireless phone charger, and a panoramic roof with Dynamic Shade Control that adjusts transparency across nine segments. The optional Relax Package adds lounge-style front seats with legrests, ventilation, massage, two headrest pillows, and a center console table. Driver aids range from standard Front Assist and Side Assist to optional Travel Assist 3.0 and a 360-degree camera view.
Where the Peaq Fits in the Market
Skoda is aiming the Peaq squarely at the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and Volvo EX90, and it has the size and range to back up that ambition. North American shoppers won’t get a crack at it, since the Volkswagen Group still keeps Skoda out of the region, but the car matters anyway. It shows where three-row electric SUVs are heading: more range, smarter aero, and interiors that treat passengers like guests rather than cargo.
For families weighing an electric move, the Peaq is a useful benchmark. It proves you can have genuine space, long legs between charges, and a quiet, plush cabin without stepping into six-figure territory. That’s a healthy direction for the whole segment, and a good reason to expect more from the next big EV you shop.
